Moviedreams is the sixth feature film directed by Horacio Maldonado. [this time co-directed with Axel Maldonado]
The director, screenwriter and producer has an extensive career linked to genre cinema, among whose titles are: Alguien te está mirando, El desvío, Héroes y Demonios and Solo un ángel, while as a producer he was in charge of feature films such as Una cita, una fiesta y un gato negro and Rouge amargo, among other productions.
AXEL MALDONADO
Trained at the Centro de Investigación Cinematográfica (CIC) and at the Universidad del Cine (FUC), his career includes genre short films such as Cerrado, Stalker and Knockout, among others. Professionally he has worked in the production of series for leading platforms and audiovisual production companies, among them El Marginal (Underground Producciones) and El Mundo de Mateo (Idealismo Cine and Kuarzo Entertainment). He is one of the main Executive Producers of CINERED FILMS.
PRODUCTION NOTES
Q: What was the origin of MOVIEDREAMS?
A: We wanted to explore the human desire to escape from reality, but also the danger of that escape being designed by others. We live surrounded by algorithms that shape our dreams without our even noticing.
Q: Is the story a critique of artificial intelligence?
A: It is rather a critique of the use we make of it. AI in this film is not the enemy: it is a consequence. The real conflict is between humans who decide whether to use it to liberate or to dominate.
Q: How would you define the structure of the story?
A: Classic three-act structure, but with dreamlike layers that work as parallel realities. The action takes place in two worlds: the real one and the induced one. The essential thing is that both influence each other.
